Renewable energy in Derby

Derby and the surrounding villages are a 30-minute drive from our base, and a regular part of our weekly survey run.

What we see in Derby

Derby's economy is heavily engineering-led, and we see a lot of interest from manufacturing units with high daytime electrical demand — the profile where solar pays back fastest because almost every generated unit is consumed on site rather than exported. On the domestic side, the outlying villages tend to have larger roofs and off-gas-grid heating, which changes the heat pump conversation.

Work we typically carry out here

  • Commercial solar on manufacturing and engineering units
  • Half-hourly data reviews before sizing an array
  • Heat pump replacements for oil and LPG heating in villages
  • Domestic solar and battery packages
  • EV charging for workplace fleets

Planning and grid

Rural Derbyshire sites more often need a full planning application, particularly ground-mount arrays and anything within sight of the Peak District boundary. We handle the consent and DNO paperwork as part of the project.

Please note

Installation work is delivered by our network of MCS-certified installation partners. Solar Renewables & Importations Ltd does not itself hold MCS certification.

Coverage

DE1–DE7, DE21–DE24. Surveys across Derby are carried out by our own team from our base at Kimberley, Nottingham.
