Planning & Grid Applications

Two things stop otherwise viable projects: the planning authority and the grid. Both are best confronted at the start rather than after a design is finalised.

Planning

  • Permitted development assessment for domestic and commercial roofs
  • Listed buildings, conservation areas and Article 4 directions
  • Ground-mounted arrays and landscape policy
  • Pre-application engagement with the local authority where useful
  • Supporting documents: site plans, elevations, glint and glare where required

Grid connection

  • G98 notification for small installations
  • G99 application where capacity exceeds the notification threshold
  • Export limitation as an alternative to a network reinforcement
  • Capacity checks before design, so the scheme is sized to what can connect
  • Liaison with the Distribution Network Operator through to approval

Timescales

Planning determination and DNO responses both run to statutory or published timescales that we cannot compress. We start them as early as possible and keep you informed of where each application sits.
