Funding and schemes: what to check this autumn
A short briefing on the grants, export tariffs and tax reliefs that may apply to renewable projects — and why eligibility always comes first.
Funding for renewable energy changes regularly, so this is a snapshot rather than a promise. Here is what we are discussing with customers this autumn.\n\nFor homes, schemes such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme can contribute towards heat pump costs for eligible properties, and the Smart Export Guarantee allows households to be paid for exported solar electricity, with rates varying by supplier. VAT relief on certain energy-saving materials may also apply.\n\nFor businesses, capital allowances — including full expensing for qualifying plant and machinery — can improve the after-tax economics of a commercial solar installation. Local authority and growth-hub grants appear and close through the year, and we track them as part of our commercial feasibility reviews.\n\nTwo principles guide everything we publish: no funding, saving or payback figure is ever guaranteed, and every claim we make is tied to the eligibility and scheme-availability caveats that sit behind it. Before you budget around any scheme, we will verify what applies to your specific property and circumstances.
